Who we are

Esperanza Relief was born from a vision carried in the heart of Father Hentzi Elek since 2016. Moved by the growing hardships faced by marginalized and displaced families across the United States, Father Hentzi dreamed of creating a community grounded in hope, dignity, and belonging.

Over the years, he shared this vision with parishioners, pastors, and friends across the country. In early 2025, that dream became reality. After hearing a message from a fellow pastor about families in crisis, Father Hentzi gathered seven volunteers from his church to provide temporary housing and essential support for those in need.

What began as a small act of compassion quickly grew into a movement. Within months, donors from various churches and private citizens came together to secure stable housing for ten families in the Denver metro area. Volunteers furnished each apartment and ensured every family had food, clothing, and basic necessities.

On March 25, 2025, Esperanza Relief became an officially recognized nonprofit organization. Since then, we have supported more than fifty men, women, and children with housing, essential resources, and community connection. Thanks to the generosity of donors and partnerships with local organizations, we continue to help families rebuild their lives—and remind them that belonging begins with hope.
